Sisters in Spirit

Tue May 9 7:00 PM

Sisters In Spirit is an original composition, collectively created by the Drama students of Welland Centennial Secondary School. This one-act play (45 min) uses physical theatre to tell the story of Skye, an Indigenous teenager, who finds herself stranded in the harsh Canadian wilderness. Skye must dig deep, drawing on her blood memory, to find the resilience to survive the challenges Mother Earth has in store for her. Sisters In Spirit is a powerful story about embracing one’s self-identity, all the while incorporating Indigenous perspectives along Skye’s journey. Sisters In Spirit will challenge audiences to consider how true events in Canadian history have shaped the Federal Government’s current national inquiry into the shocking and disproportionate number of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls (MMIWG) .
